Union Hospital - Dover, Ohio

Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio has just completed a 6,500 square foot renovation to their facility. The department contains an inpatient rehabilitation facility for neurological, orthopedic and other rehabilitation needs. The architectural firm was Hasenstab Architects from Akron, Ohio, mechanical engineering firm was Hinkel Engineering Inc. from Wooster, Ohio, and electrical engineering firm was Horn Engineering from Dover, Ohio.

The project consisted of a complete demolition of the space. Ceiling space was limited since this area is in one of the older parts of the hospital. New walls, ceilings, flooring, plumbing, hvac, and lighting were installed. Ceiling mounted two-pipe fan coil units were installed flush in the ceiling of the bathrooms. This allowed the ceilings in the patient rooms  to be raised higher with the larger equipment in the ceilings of the bathrooms.  The fan coil units were then ducted to the patient rooms. This arrangement created a more quiet environment for the patient with the equipment located out of the patient room, but still allowed access for maintenance personnel to change filters and service the equipment.
